Guess What? Trump's Killing It With Jobs!
CNN Money — President Trump’s first full month was a big one for jobs.
The U.S. economy added a robust 235,000 jobs in February, the Labor Department said Friday.
The unemployment rate ticked down to 4.7% from 4.8% in the previous month. It’s a vast improvement from 2009, when unemployment peaked at 10% after the financial crisis.
“The U.S. economy is doing very very well at the moment,” says Jeremy Cook, chief economist at World First, a foreign exchange firm.
Economists say it will be a challenge for Trump to fulfill his promise to create 25 million jobs over the next 10 years. The unemployment rate is already very low, and many Baby Boomers have either retired or left the job market.
At least in his first full month, though, Trump is on pace to fulfill that promise.
I’m going to be honest with you it’s damn near impossible to pay attention to anything other than Grudge Dave’s riveting tale of love, lust, Soul Cycle and betrayal right now, but we’ve got obligations. We’ve got work to do. And if we’re going to shit on Trump constantly when he carries out ridiculous shenanigans and decry him when he goes apeshit on twitter, then we have to give him some credit when his first full month was a BIG ONE for jobs.
Obviously anti-Trumpers will come out and say the President isn’t responsible for an entire economy’s performance, ESPECIALLY in such a short time frame. Sure, that’s fine. But at the end of the day the buck stops with the President and there’s a very real argument to be made that business likes Donnie and business has been good.
There’s more.
Last year, the economy averaged about 190,000 new jobs per month. The economy is showing other signs of strength: Consumer and business confidence is high, and stocks are at record levels.
Wage growth continued to show signs of progress after persisting at a sluggish pace for years. Wages grew a solid 2.8% in February compared with a year ago.
If you’re not happy about this you’re an idiot. You’re being a grudge master on Grudgement Day. Despite your personal or political feelings, you should want the President to succeed because a successful President is a better United States and means more well-off Americans.
So fuck yeah. Go Donnie Go. Now, back to radio…
